Exactly what’s covered
Combined Science is two GCSEs covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics together. Here’s how we structure the teaching across all three sciences.
Major UK exam boards
We cover AQA (Trilogy), Edexcel and OCR Gateway A. Specific group availability depends on tutor scheduling and demand — tell us your child’s exam board on enquiry and we’ll let you know what’s running.
Foundation and Higher — separately
We teach both tiers in their own dedicated groups. Foundation and Higher students are never mixed in the same session, so the pace and content is always pitched at the right level.
Year 10 and Year 11
Whether your child needs early-stage support in Year 10 or focused exam preparation in Year 11, there’s a group that fits. Groups are organised by year and ability.
All three sciences, every topic on the spec
How GCSE Combined Science sessions actually work
One hour, once a week, with the same tutor and the same small group. Here’s what we do with that time.
Diagnose the gaps
Your tutor finds out where the holes are across biology, chemistry and physics — the topics still missing, the misconceptions getting in the way.
Teach to the spec
Targeted explanations, worked examples, and practice across all three sciences — aligned to your child’s exam board.
Drill the exam
Past papers, mark schemes, and exam technique. Required practicals, six-mark questions, and the maths-in-science problems all get attention.
Practise together
Live working through problems as a group, with the tutor on hand. Mistakes get caught early, ideas get shared, and confidence builds session by session.
Why small groups change everything for GCSE Combined Science
Combined Science is a lot of content. Three subjects, two grades, one shared specification — and in a class of thirty, the topics that don’t quite click in lessons quietly become the topics that come up in the exam.
In a Bright Path group of five, those gaps don’t survive long. Every question gets asked. Every wrong answer gets unpicked. And every small misunderstanding — the kind that turns a 5 into a 4 — gets caught before it becomes a problem.

Subject specialists, not generalists
Our science team includes biology, chemistry and physics specialists — each a qualified UK-trained teacher with classroom experience. No newly-qualified teachers. No undergraduates moonlighting. Just teachers who’ve stood in front of GCSE Science classes, marked the papers, and know exactly what your child needs to do to move up a grade.
What families are saying
My son has started GCSE Science lessons with Bright Path Learning since September last year. His grades have considerably improved and he has achieved Grade 8/9 in his term exams. This has really helped my son to gain confidence and he looks forward to his lesson every week.
My son has been having additional Chemistry and Physics support for GCSE. Bright Path Learning have linked him up with a fabulous tutor — sciences were far from his favourite subjects, but he’s really enjoying his lessons. Great communicators throughout.
My science tutor has massively helped me throughout my GCSEs — not just with understanding the content, but also by really boosting my confidence in the subject. The way he explains things makes everything so much clearer. I’ve seen such an improvement in my grades and now feel much more prepared going into exams.
Ollie is an exceptional science tutor. He has an in-depth understanding of the curriculum and a great ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging way. He is patient and supportive, and we have seen a significant improvement in my daughter’s confidence — clearly reflected in her science test scores.

Common questions about GCSE Combined Science tuition
Which exam boards do you teach for GCSE Combined Science?
We cover the major UK exam boards for GCSE Combined Science — AQA (Trilogy), Edexcel and OCR Gateway A. Specific group availability depends on tutor scheduling and demand at the time you enquire, so let us know your child’s exam board and we’ll tell you what’s running.
What’s the difference between Combined Science and Separate Sciences?
Combined Science (sometimes called Trilogy or Double Award) is two GCSEs covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics together. Separate Sciences (also called Triple Science) is three GCSEs — one each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics — covering more content in greater depth. Most schools tell parents which one their child is sitting; if you’re not sure, ask your child’s school or get in touch and we’ll help you work it out.
Do you teach Foundation and Higher tier?
Yes — we teach both Foundation and Higher tier, in separate groups. Foundation and Higher students are never mixed in the same session, so the pace and content is always pitched at the right level.
How much does GCSE Combined Science tuition cost?
Our GCSE group sessions are £30 per student per 60-minute session, in groups of up to 5. Sessions are paid for half-termly in advance, so you know exactly what you’re committing to.
What if my child can’t make a session?
All sessions are recorded as standard. Recordings can be shared on request, so if your child misses a session they can catch up on what was covered. Our full attendance and refunds policy explains how we handle longer absences.
What platform do you use?
Sessions run through Google Classroom, which hosts the live video call and the shared materials and resources for each group. There’s nothing to install — your child just needs a Google account and the link we’ll send before each session.
