Following the latest changes to the testing framework, the exam comprises three cognitive subtests alongside the Situational Judgement Test (SJT). The exam is broken down as follows:

• Decision Making (35 questions / 37 minutes): Evaluating your capacity to apply logic to complex data sets, diagrams, and statistical arguments to reach sound conclusions.
• Quantitative Reasoning (36 questions / 26 minutes): Testing your numerical problem-solving skills, focusing on percentages, ratios, and data interpretation at speed.

Decoding the Scores: What is a “Good” UCAT Result?

Your final mark in each of the three cognitive sections will be converted into a scaled score between 300 and 900. This means your overall performance can be evaluated as a total score out of 2700, or as an average score of your best three subtests (ranging from 300 to 900), plus your Situational Judgement score which is marked separately from Band 1 to Band 4 (with Band 1 being the highest).

Crucially, universities use these scores entirely differently, meaning the definition of a “best score” heavily depends on what you need for your specific choices.
